Curvy model Myla Dalbesio named a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Rookie of the Year

Model Myla Dalbesio's impressive resume includes being Calvin Klein's first curvy model. Unsurprisingly, she just achieved something else that may top that -- being one of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue Rookies of the Year!

"This has been a goal of mine for a decade, and I am so proud to have gotten here," Dalbesio shared on Instagram along with a topless snap from the issue. "I hope that this can be an example for other women to continue to stand strong in their convictions and not be afraid to use their voice."

And now a break from my regularly scheduled political griping to share with you the exciting news that I've been included as a rookie for this years issue of @si_swimsuit! This has been a goal of mine for a decade, and I am so proud to have gotten here. It feels strange to celebrate right now at this strange moment in world history, but I hope that this can be an example for other women to continue to stand strong in their convictions and not be afraid to use their voice. The size-10 model hopes this makes women realize that you don't need to have tons of social media followers to make something of yourself.

Just two years ago, the brunette beauty became the first model of her size to land a Calvin Klein underwear campaign. And now, she'll be part of a special group of incredible women!

She joins another SI newbie, Kelly Gale. The 21-year-old model may look familiar -- she recently walked the catwalk for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Olympic gold-winning gymnasts Aly Raisman and Simone Biles will also join the duo.

The issue is set to be released later this month.
