Beyonce pregnancy reveal births half-million tweets in 45 minutes

What better way to process Beyoncé's pregnancy news than to tweet about it?

After Bey took to Instagram to reveal that her family with husband Jay Z "will be growing by two," the Beyhive got in formation by hitting Twitter with half a million tweets in 45 minutes. At the peak of the twin frenzy -- at 1:54 p.m. ET, within 15 minutes of the post -- 17,000 tweets per minute flew in about the expanding Carter empire.

Within minutes of Beyoncé's announcement that Blue Ivy is about to be a big sister, "twins" was the top Twitter trend, followed by the trends "Beyonce," "Blue" and "Beyhive."

The most retweeted tweet about the pregnancy news (so far) is People magazine's "STOP EVERYTHING!" alert, with nearly 23,000 RTs at press time.

Beyoncé knows how to orchestrate a splashy pregnancy reveal: Back in 2011, she broke the news that she was pregnant with her first baby onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards.
