Elton John to create the music for 'The Devil Wears Prada' on Broadway

The Devil Wears Prada will be hitting the stage in style, as the Broadway adaptation have announced the musical's writing will be in the very capable hands of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Elton John and legendary playwright Paul Rudnick.

When it came down to deciding on who would undertake the writing, the producers say that their choice was easy.

"To bring The Devil Wears Prada to the stage, we knew we needed to find artists as inimitable as the characters in the story," Bob Cohen of Fox Stage Productions and Kevin McCollum related in a joint statement. "We needed artists whose work has run the gamut from music and publishing to drama and fashion. We could think of only two names: Elton John and Paul Rudnick... That's all!"

Based off of Lauren Weisberger's New York Times best-seller -- and later, the blockbuster hit starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt -- it follows new graduate and aspiring journalist Andrea, as she tries to make her way working for an iconic fashion magazine under a cutthroat boss while maintaining her iconoclast identity.

"Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theater is super exciting," said Elton John. "I'm a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can't wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture."
