Newt Gingrich: Madonna should be arrested for Women's March remarks

Newt Gingrich thinks Madonna should be arrested following her comments at the Women's March on Washington.

While speaking at the march, Madonna said, "Yes I've thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House, but I know that this won't change anything." The rest of her speech talked about revolution and love, as she dropped F-bombs and cursed at "detractors that insist this march will never add up to anything." The majority of her speech evoked a powerful response, although the back of the crowd booed when she talked about blowing up the White House. In response to the backlash about her White House comments, Madonna said, "I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it's important people hear and understand my speech in its entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context."

Gingrich talked about her defensive statement on Fox & Friends on Monday. "I love the left. When they say, 'I dreamed about blowing up the White House,' they didn't mean, 'I dreamed about blowing up the White House,'" he said. "They actually meant, 'The yellow purple banana,' but they didn't want to say, 'The yellow purple banana' because it was too shocking. So they said blow up the White House. Give me a break."

He compared the singer to the protestors who broke windows on Friday during Trump's Inauguration Day. (On the day of the Women's March none of the more than 500,000 demonstrators in DC were arrested.)

"What you have is an emerging left-wing fascism," said Gingrich. "She's part of it, and I think we have to be prepared to protect ourselves. The truth is, she ought to be arrested."
