Kim Kardashian West is reading one woman's account of a near-death experience after facing her own trauma when she was robbed at gunpoint while in Paris, France, last October.
Early Monday morning, the 36-year-old reality star posted a photo on Snapchat of Betty J. Eadie's bestselling book, Embraced by the Light, which chronicles the author's near-death experience and "amazing journey into the spirit world."
"Its main purpose is to reach hurting souls and bring comfort to them during hardships, loss of loved ones and to help them establish direction when misdirected through daily living," Eadie explains on the book's website. "However, perhaps more important than anything else—its purpose is to bring to its reader the powerful message of God's unconditional and eternal love for them."
A few days after Kim was robbed, a source close to the mother of two told ET that she feared for her life that night. "Kim thought she was going to die. They put a gun to her head while they were searching the apartment," the source said of the robbery. "She was crying, begging them for her life. It's an absolute awful story. One of the most terrifying experiences of her life."
Last week, the police report from Kim's robbery was obtained by French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, and detailed her initial account of the crime. "I heard a noise at the door, like footsteps, and I shouted to ask who was there. No one answered," Kim stated in the report. "I called for my bodyguard at 2:56 a.m."
"I saw two men coming who were hooded, plus the hotel receptionist who was strapped; one had a ski mask and a cap and jacket with 'Police' written on it and one had ski goggles. He snatched my Blackberry," she further stated in the report. ""I was wearing a bathrobe, naked underneath. They pushed me on the bed and strapped me with plastic cables, taping my hands, mouth and legs. They carried me into the bathroom, more specifically, the bathtub."
Authorities have confirmed that 10 suspects are facing criminal charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, weapon possession, use of false identity and criminal association.
