Kim Kardashian may have had the most up and down year out of any other celebrity in the world. From getting into the best shape of her life after giving birth to son, Saint, to pushing her massively successful multimedia empire to new heights and shockingly being robbed at gunpoint in Paris, Kardsahian has had quite the last 12 months.

That aforementioned empire was fueled in part by her continuing dominance of the conversation around social media this year, which started with a major controversy around a naked photo (with back bars covering her private parts) on Instagram that garnered her much support and criticism.

But Kardashian was just getting started. From a stunning, scantily-clad cover shoot for GQ to a Mexican vacation filled with racy photos, Kim was all about pushing the envelope in 2016. Until it all stopped.

When Kardashian's Paris apartment was broken into in early October during Paris Fashion Week, the world came to a screeching halt. The scariest moment of her 35-year-long life could've ended everything for the star, and it put her entire life into perspective. She became uncharacteristically private and quiet, especially online. She hasn't posted a photo on Instagram or sent a tweet since the incident.

Though sources have said that her silence and restrained image will continue in the new year, we hope that Kardashian comes back. Social media isn't the same without her, and we know that she has more to say and share and inspire within us to not hold back.
