Watch Garth Brooks teach Jimmy Kimmel how to write a country song about break dancing

There are things Jimmy Kimmel is great at: hosting a late-night talk show, telling jokes and roasting the occasional celeb at an awards show. Here's what he doesn't know how to do: write a country song. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host tried to remedy that situation on Wednesday night (Nov. 16) when he sat down with country legend Garth Brooks for a little Country 101 session.

Jimmy had on the requisite cowboy shirt, jeans and boots and opened up to Garth about how much he has to say and share, and well, how he too would like to sell 11 million copies of an album. "I need your help, though, because I don't know how to sing really, or write songs or play guitar or anything," Kimmel admitted. The good news, according to the country superstar, is that you don't really need to know any of that stuff, you just need to find a subject that moves you, that you're willing to die for or changed your life.

"I'm just thinking of pizza right now," Kimmel admitted shyly. Garth encouraged Jimmy to dig deeper into his past for an emotional touchstone. Bingo! We won't spoil it for you, but Jimmy came up with the perfect subject: the time someone really broke his heart by crushing his best friend Daniel's break dancing dreams.

Brooks also discussed streaming his music for the first time on Amazon Unlimited Music. "They're a great company," Brooks said, as Kimmel praised Garth's awesome album covers and then showed off a bunch of fake ones, including a hilarious re-do of Nirvana's Nevermind. The singer also recalled how sweet James Taylor was when he heard Garth's cover of "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight," talked about singing a song for Kimmel's sister, described how he now writes songs on his phone and got fanboy all over George Strait and "the greatest entertainer on the planet," late Queen singer Freddie Mercury.
