Hollywood is fired up over California's legalization of recreational marijuana

California voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana on Tuesday, giving some residents cause for celebration.

"We just legalized marijuana in Cali. #smokeweedeveryday," wrote Snoop Dogg, a noted marijuana user and executive producer of MTV's weed comedy "Mary + Jane."

Recreational use was on the ballot in five states — Massachusetts, Maine, Arizona, Nevada and California — and medical marijuana was up for decision in three more, namely Florida, Arkansas and North Dakota. In California, the measure passed by a fairly significant majority, making it the most populous state to decriminalize the drug.

Enthusiasm for the measure was somewhat tempered, as Twitter users were left stunned and panicked by Donald Trump's surprise lead in the presidential race.

"The worst part of all of this is I don't even smoke pot, so I have nothing to celebrate at this moment," wrote "Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec.

Meanwhile, others contemplated taking up toking to deal with the stress of the election and the idea of Trump becoming the next president.
