Gigi Hadid & Jay Pharaoh to host 2016 American Music Awards

Updated

Supermodel Gigi Hadid and former Saturday Night Live cast member Jay Pharoah will co-host the 2016 American Music Awards. The pair will run a Nov. 20 broadcast with a major roster of performers including the just-announced The Weeknd, as well as Ariana Grande with Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes, John Legend, Fifth HarmonyJames Bay, The Chainsmokers with Halsey and Carlos Vives with Shakira, as well as Lady Gaga, Green Day, Bruno Mars, Twenty One Pilots and American Music Award of Merit honoree and performer Sting.

The show will be broadcast live on Nov. 20 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Grande and Minaj are scheduled to perform their hit "Side to Side," with both notching their fourth time playing the show, while six-time nominee Legend will be gracing the AMA stage for the first time, as will Mendes, who is also making his debut on the broadcast.

"I'm so excited to host the 2016 AMAs with Jay Pharoah," Hadid said in a statement. "Jay is known for his spot-on impressions so I can't wait to take the stage with him to show my goofy side and celebrate this year's nominees!" Pharoah said he's also psyched to take the stage with the Versace model. "Can't wait to host the AMAs with the beautiful Gigi Hadid (so much innocence in her eyes) and being in the building with some of my industry friends, who I've probably impersonated at some point I'm sure," he said Pharoah. "It's gonna be a fun night!"
