Prince Harry reportedly courted Meghan Markle via text message

It has been about 48 hours since news hit that Prince Harrymight be datingMeghan Markle, an American actress (best known for her role on USA's Suits) who also runs a Goop-esque lifestyle blog. And now that she has been identified as a potential future princess, the press is, well, going somewhat rabid. Markle's Instagram posts have been analyzed as if they were Hillary Clinton e-mails, and her past interviews and comments have been dredged up in the way a new cast member on Saturday Night Live'smight be. Past relationships have been examined, and a whole range of posts with headlines like "5 Reasons Meghan Markle's Style Is Already Fit for a Princess" have jammed their way into the crowded Internet hallway.

Us found a video of Markle, as part of the promotional tour for Suits she underwent earlier this year, in which she answers questions—whaddya know—about British culture. The outlet notes that when asked "to translate six common American words to British slang . . . she only got half correct," which feels as if it is supposed to serve as some sort of commentary on her fitness to date Prince Harry. (At the end, she good-naturedly jokes, "I think I lost. I was the worst at this game.")

Meanwhile, in slightly more scandalous findings, the Daily Mailsays that Harry "may have 'bombarded'" Markle with texts while she was still dating her previous boyfriend, Canadian chef Cory Vitiello. Per a "friend," "[Harry and Markle] are the real deal. He definitely pursued her and besieged her with texts until she agreed to a date." They reportedly met at a charity event, and Harry was "very full-on but she was going through quite a tough time with her previous boyfriend and she was very flattered. He's head over heels and she feels the same." (Meanwhile, we really like "full-on" as an expression, and have decided to now use it regularly.)

The Daily Mail says that Markle and Vitiello broke up in May, which is the same month that she met Harry.

We presume the initial text messages went something like this:

Harry: hey, this is harry

Markle: haha hi

Markle: crazy to be texting with A PRINCE

Harry: lol yeah

Harry: or, I mean, I wouldn't know what it's like from your end

Harry: but yeah

Harry: want to come to London and hang out?

Meanwhile, Markle has continued posting regularly on Instagram since the news broke, most intriguing putting up this photograph of . . . side-by-side bananas, with faces drawn on them, with the caption "Sleep tight xx." Is this a message to Harry?!? It almost has to be, we think.

We can imagine Harry shouting from his spot on the couch, in Kensington Palace, "Kate! Kate!"

Kate glances up from the book she's reading to George. "What, Harry?"

"She posted the two bananas. We're all good."
