While most people can't remember a time before the Queen of England and Prince Philip were married, she was reportedly advised not to get hitched to the Duke of Edinburgh back in the day.

Though the Queen recently referred to him as her "strength and stay," according to biographer AN Wilson, others around her at the time thought differently.

The Telegraph reports that while at the Cheltenham Literary Festival, the author of "The Queen" said young Elizabeth made it clear Prince Philip was the one for her, but the courtiers thought that he was entirely wrong.

The two were married in November of 1947, proving all their naysayers wrong by staying married for nearly 70 years and counting!
