Kathleen Miller, actress in three Hal Ashby films, dies at 71

Kathleen Miller, an actress who appeared in the 1970s films The Last Detail, Shampoo and Coming Home for director Hal Ashby, died Friday in a hospital in Lynwood, Calif., after a lengthy illness, her brother Andy said. She was 71.

Miller also was in the Broadway production of Butterflies Are Free, which opened in 1969, and had a regular role on the short-lived 1976-77 NBC sitcom Sirota's Court, starring Michael Constantine.

A native of Los Angeles, the actress guest-starred on such TV shows as Kojak, Starsky and Hutch and Cannon and had roles in the movies Stay Hungry and Fighting Mad, both released in 1976.

In Shampoo (1975), her character has her hair blow-dried by Warren Beatty.

Her parents were Universal Television executive Alan Miller and Carolyn Miller, an actress.

Miller is survived by another brother, Steve.
