Luke Evans explains the 'joy' of making 'The Girl On The Train'

By: Gibson Johns

Luke Evans' intense portrayal of Scott Hipwell in Tate Taylor's "Girl On The Train," out nationwide on Oct. 7, stays pretty much in line with author Paula Hawkins' original characterization in her best-selling novel. And that's on purpose.

Knowing that Hawkins had really captured the many sides of Scott, Evans knew that he didn't need to take that many of his own liberties with the character. Instead, he just needed to make sure that those many sides of this man man, whose wife Megan (Haley Bennett) goes missing, came across on screen.

"My responsibility was to show all of the colors of his personality," Evans explained to us last week.

"There was a lot to play with," he continued. "[Scott is] a frustrated man. I wouldn't want to be in his head -- no wonder he's frowning all the time."

While shooting, Evans got the opportunity to sit down with Hawkins and the two had an "interesting chat." The things we would do to have been a fly on the wall for that one!
