Haley Bennett and Edgar Ramirez are two of the unexpected highlights of Tate Taylor's adaptation of Paula Hawkins' "The Girl On The Train," out Oct. 7.

The quiet, explosive doctor-patient relationship between Bennett's Megan Hipwell and Ramirez's Dr. Kamal Abdic has so much chemistry that you can feel it from your seat in the audience. It's electric.

How did they create such a spark on screen? As the pair of actors explained to us last week, it just happened.

"I think the same feeling that I felt working with Edgar was the same feeling that Megan felt working with Kamal," explained Bennett, whose character ultimately goes missing in the film. "[There was] a quality of trust that I felt immediately and a connection with Edgar."

Ramirez echoed those statements, recalling an "immediate" sense of trust between the two stars and calling it a "privilege to work so closely with Haley."

Their sense of closeness becomes even more sensational when you think about their completely different approaches to tackling their parts. For her part, Bennett was already a fan of Hawkins' best-selling novel, so she knew exactly what she was getting into.

"I did read the book, and so I felt quite protective of [it]," she told us. "I think that gave me an advantage to want to honor the book, but also to allow it to be its own thing and to put myself in the character's shoes."

"We were very fortunate to start with something very rich and complex and character-driven," she explained of the part.

Ramirez, though, actually hadn't read the book before signing on for the film, saying that, instead, he "fully immersed [himself] into the script."
