Metallica to perform on 'The Howard Stern Show,' re-launch 'Mandatory Metallica'



On Monday (Sept. 26), Metallica will drop by The Howard Stern Show for an in-studio performance of some of their biggest hits, mixed with music from their upcoming release, Hardwired... To Self Destruct.

Metallica's 'Hardwired' Continues Rock Chart Ascent

Additionally, they will record a special edition of SiriusXM's "Town Hall" series, in which the band will answer listener questions. The special will be hosted by music journalist and SiriusXM host David Fricke, and will air on the upcoming limited-run SiriusXM channel Mandatory Metallica. The channel will launch, or essentially re-launch, on Nov. 16.

Mandatory Metallica originally aired in 2009, and then once more in 2013, when the band performed a private concert for SiriusXM at the Apollo Theater. The channel will feature the band's biggest hits, rarities, and other concert recordings spanning Metallica's 30-plus-year career. The Metallica episode of "Town Hall" will air on Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. ET on both Mandatory Metallica and SiriusXM's hard-rock channel Octane.
