It's Britney, bitch!

After weeks of rumors that she'd be appearing at the upcoming award show, Britney Spears took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that she'll be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards. The show will take place on Aug. 28 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The teaser, which only features Spears' voice, shows a giant white and yellow snake slithering around in a dimly-lit dressing room as Spears' voiceover teases her upcoming appearance.

"The VMAs don't just give you a stage," she purrs. "They give you a story, some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever. Before you know it, it's history."

"Before you know it, it's Britney bitch!" she finishes, before the words "BRITNEY PERFORMS LIVE" take over an all white screen.

The snake harkens back to Spears' iconic performance at the 2001 VMAs, during which she draped herself with a long snake while singing and dancing "I'm a Slave 4 U." The performance's 15th anniversary coincides with this year's award show.

Spears has been gearing up for the Aug. 26 release of her highly-anticipated eighth studio album, Glory. So far, Spears has released three tracks from the album: "Make Me...," "Private Show" and "Clumsy." She returns to her Piece Of Me residency in Las Vegas this week, as well, which will feature at least two new songs.
