Selena Gomez threw some shade at Justin Bieber and he's not having it

Justin Bieber May Have Lost His Fans

Justin Bieber would really like it if his millions of adoring fans stopped being so mean the people that he likes. And by "people" he likes, he means Sofia Richie, his apparent new romantic interest/best gal-pal on the road while touring in Tokyo.

Over the weekend, the Biebs posted not one, not two, but six black-and-white photos of him and Sofia Richie smiling and making faces at the camera. But while Bieber can't seem to get enough of Richie, his fans would like to see a whole lot less of her and they're letting her know as such. Richie has apparently gotten a lot of hate from the Beliebers on Instagram, who reportedly have taken to leaving snake emojis and other mean comments on her profile. (As of publication, her profile seems to have comments turned off, since the photos don't have any visible comments.)

Bieber must have gotten wind of how his fans were reacting, because on the final and most recent of the photos from his camera roll with Richie, he writes: "I'm gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don't stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn't be so mean to people that I like."

The Beliebers weren't having any of it. And neither was Selena Gomez.

Gomez took to the comments section (to the horror of the remaining Jelena fans still out there) to call out Bieber for all the world to see. In a comment captured by the Shade Room, Gomez sides with her former flame's fans and writes: "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol -it should be special between you two only. Don't be mad at your fans. They love you."

Not much later, though, Bieber responded as well. An updated post of the photo's captions reportedly show Bieber responding to the criticism. He doesn't tag Selena in the comment, but suffice it to say, there's little doubt as to who he was directing his comments to. He writes: "It's funny to see that people used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love." In another apparent comment, he adds: "I'm not one for anyone receiving hate. Hope u can all be kind to my friends and eachother [sic]. And yes I love my belibers."

Ouch.
