'Utterly Remarkable': Harry Potter Fans Rave About 'Cursed Child'

The magical powers of Harry Potter have come up against the brute force of capitalism and, inevitably, there was only going to be one victor.

With 250,000 new tickets to the two-part Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play, now appearing in London, released on Aug. 4, many who missed out on the first run thought their prayers had been answered. However, they didn't take into account quick-fingered speculators and opportunists.

The newly released tickets sold out within hours. But just minutes later started appearing on re-sale websites at rather inflated prices.

StubHub, one of the more widely known re-sale sites, is currently offering tickets costing as much as £950 ($1239). On eBay, you can get two Cursed Child tickets for the comparatively bargain price of just £540. However, this is still a steep hike on the original ticket price, which ranged between £15 and £70 for each part of the play.

Naturally, many Harry Potter fan took to the magical message board that is Twitter to voice their frustration.

"Wizardingworld unite and let us all rise against the evil and foul souls selling their #CursedChild tickets on ebay. Wands out #lumos," tweeted Marlies van Eunen.

Speaking at the official gala premiere, J.K. Rowling said she wanted Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to expand to Broadway and around the world.
