Sony's live-action/animation hybrid adaptation of the classic children's tale "Peter Rabbit" is gearing up as James Corden is on board to voice the iconic character with Rose Byrne in negotiations to star.

Will Gluck will direct the movie, which combines live-action with CG animation to recreate Peter's fantastical world.

The comedy is a modern interpretation of the Beatrix Potter stories, centering on the rivalry between the mischievous Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor. Byrne will play a live-action role.

Gluck is revising the script after the first draft was penned by Rob Lieber. Gluck is also producing with Zareh Nalbandian of Animal Logic Entertainment. The project is being overseen by Lauren Abrahams for Sony.

Corden hasn't starred in a film since "Kill Your Friends" as his gig as host of "The Late Late Show" on CBS consumes a lot of his time. However, he recently lent his voice to the DreamWorks Animation pic "Trolls."

Byrne starred in "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" and "X-Men: Apocalypse."

Corden and Byrne are represented by CAA, while Gluck is repped by UTA.
