JoJo chooses Jordan Rodgers in emotional 'Bachelorette' finale

Updated

JoJo Fletcher couldn't contain her emotions on "The Bachelorette" finale on Monday, resulting in one of the most shocking seasons of the hit dating series yet. After JoJo was in love with both of her suitors she ultimately accepted a proposal from ... Jordan.

Jordan Rodgers got down on one knee in a breathtaking proposal in Thailand with a massive Neil Lane sparkler. JoJo looked stunning in a neutral Badgley Mischka gown with a flowing skirt and a thigh-high slit, and ecstatically accepted the proposal. And the proposal itself was every bit as romantic and dramatic as you'd imagine.

"You're my best friend, you're my soul mate," Jordan started his proposal before JoJo stopped him.

"I just want to tell you how I feel. Jordan, I love you so much. I have been waiting to tell you how I feel... I didn't want you to get down on one knee until I said that," JoJo exclaimed.

With that, Jordan got down on his knee and said, "I love you so much, I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

Throughout Monday night's episode the 25-year-old reality star was torn between her two final suitors, Jordan Rodgers and Robby Hayes. Her family joined her at the final stop of "The Bachelorette" tour in Thailand and she pleaded with them to help her make a decision about who she should choose. JoJo broke down in tears admitting that Jordan made her nervous because he was so similar to many of her past boyfriends, and Robby was a good man, but she'd always wonder what life would be like if she didn't choose Jordan.

She continued to question her feelings with both men during her final date with each. Robby, who was the only man to ask her dad for her hand in marriage during his family date, encouraged JoJo with his declarations of love and his descriptions of what life would be like if they were together --right down to the type of meal they'd have with their kids if they got hitched. (Hint: It was meatloaf.)

During her 1-on-1 date with Jordan, JoJo lamented about how he didn't bother to ask her dad for his blessing, and continued to grill him on whether he was ready to get down on bended knee. Jordan defended himself and said he loved her, but he just didn't want to propose unless he knew he was the final man. He pleaded, "I don't want to lose you," and explained that he never wanted her to doubt how much he loved her. Later in the episode, Jordan made sure to call JoJo's parents and ask for their permission to propose to their daughter.

When it came time to propose, that's when the emotions hit a fever pitch.

Robby believed he was the the final one and told JoJo how much he cared about her, explaining that he thought they were best friends, and that's when JoJo dropped the hammer.

"I woke up this morning, wanting it to be you. Every day I've been wanting it to be you. I fell in love with you, but for some reason my heart is somewhere else. You have made me feel the type of love that I always dreamed of feeling -- the type of love that I honestly didn't think existed. It's not the love," JoJo said amid tears. Robby seemed devastated and was in tears as he drove away.

And while JoJo was unable to contain the tears as she said goodbye to one suitor, she couldn't contain her happiness when Jordan showed up. Jordan barely got through his proposal speech before JoJo admitted that she was completely head-over-heels in love with him and couldn't wait to call him her future husband.

JoJo handed Jordan the final rose and with that the Season 12 -- and with that they kissed beneath the sunset.
