Kanye West took to Twitter to honor his late mother, Donda West, with an emotional message about his daughter, North.

Along with a grainy old photo of himself posing with his mother, West shared a sweet -- yet heartbreaking -- anecdote about North wanting to meet her grandmother.

"NORI ASKED IF THE AIRPLANE COULD TAKE HER TO HEAVEN TO SEE YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY," he wrote. "I LOVE YOU MOM"

West's mother never met either of his two children, as she died following complications during a cosmetic surgery in November of 2007. He has frequently paid tribute to her via song, clothing and messages on social media.

His song "Only One," is told from the perspective of his late mother and serves as a message to North that he says came directly from Donda through him.
