Samuel L. Jackson On "The Legend of Tarzan"

By: Donna Freydkin

Yes, he's famous for that "Pulp Fiction" monologue, the one pulsing with conviction and rage: "Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers."

In reality, Samuel L. Jackson -- now starring in "The Legend of Tarzan" -- lives by quite a different mantra.

"I was in the 'Die Hard' office one day and there's a sign on the wall that I adhere to vehemently now: 'Be careful of the toes you step on today. They could be connected to the ass you'll have to kiss tomorrow," he says.

Which is why, he says, "When I'm on a movie set, I think everyone is just as important as I am. I treat them that way. I know all the PAs' names."

After all, an actor can always be replaced. Good lighting, on the other hand ...

"It's a collaborative effort. We're almost the least important effort of anything," says Jackson of actors.

Take a look back at "Pulp Fiction" below.
