'Finding Dory' clip showcases baby version of Pixar's forgetful fish
How did Finding Dorymake such a splash at the box office, landing the biggest domestic opening of all time for an animated title?
Maybe it's because Ellen DeGeneres' forgetful blue fish from 2003's Finding Nemo is so adorable, as seen in a new clip released Monday. The brief moment is a flashback of hers that is crucial to her journey.
"I suffer from short-term memory loss," a younger version of the titular fish (voiced by Sloane Murray) is taught to say by her parents, voiced by Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton. The two try to coach a very eager and wide-eyed Dory before she tries to play with other fish, but her condition sweetly distracts her from a game of hide-and-seek — to her parents' dismay.
The Pixar and Disney sequel grossed $136.2 million from 4,305 theaters in its debut this past weekend. It's also the only animated movie to crack the overall list of top 20 openings, ranking No. 18.
