Mom reportedly asked to leave first-class seat over crying baby

Arielle Noa Charnas recently boarded a Delta Airlines flight from New York City to Los Angeles with her husband and 9-month-old baby girl -- and unfortunately it wasn't a smooth ride.

The popular SomethingNavy blogger was nervous about flying with her daughter Ruby on Dec. 29 for the very first time and told Us Weekly her husband, Brandon, booked first-class tickets so they could be more comfortable.

Little Ruby was overwhelmed as the flight prepared for takeoff and reacted by "screaming crying," Charnas wrote on Instagram.

"I was getting tons of eye rolls and head shakes from fellow passengers," Charnas explained. "I tried to ignore the people until 10 minutes passed and a flight attendant came over to me and asked me and my baby to move to the back of the plane."

"I started crying because I was so stressed and anxious and instead of the stewardess being helpful and compassionate she instead made the situation worse," Charnas continued.

Her Instagram post quickly went viral, with over 22,000 likes so far and thousands of mostly supportive comments.

After rocking Ruby and walking her up and down the aisles, Charnas told Us Weekly that the little girl "fell asleep on my shoulder and was a dream the rest of the flight."

"Delta flight attendants are trained to provide safe transport and excellent customers service. We fully support all passengers traveling in the class of service for which they've paid," a Delta spokesperson told PEOPLE in wake of the controversy.

The CEO of Delta also reached out to the family with an apology on January 3. Us Weekly reports that their tickets were refunded and each family member was given $300.

Charnas posted on Instagram that they intend to donate the money to Unicef.

"I was so shocked to see how many people were able to relate and I'm glad I was able to bring awareness to something that apparently happens on a daily basis," the blogger wrote.
