Trump takes dig at A-listers, cites Jackie Evancho's growing album sales

Donald Trump is speaking out about the positive influence he can have on artists' sales amid claims that his team has had a difficult time booking A-list talent for his inaugural festivities.

On Wednesday, the president-elect tweeted, "Jackie Evancho's album sales have skyrocketed after announcing her Inauguration performance. Some people just don't understand the 'Movement.'"

Evancho is a 16-year-old singer who was just 10 when she was named the runner-up on 'America's Got Talent,' notes the Daily Beast.

According to Billboard charts, for the week of January 14, 2017, her album 'Someday At Christmas' was at number 134 on the Top 200 list, but it was number 1 in the classical music genre.

TMZ also reported on December 25 that "her weekly album sales quadrupled in digital downloads and in [retail] as well."

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Evancho admitted that there has been backlash since she agreed to perform the national anthem at Trump's inauguration but added, "I also get a lot of love. We pay most attention to that."
