'Rogue One' becomes 3rd biggest release of 2016

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" grossed another $16.6 million on Thursday, bringing its domestic total up to $375 million and making it the No. 3 release of 2016 in North America.

After just 14 days of release, "Rogue One" passed "Deadpool," "The Jungle Book" and "The Secret Life of Pets" to become the third biggest domestic release of the year. "Deadpool," a February release, earned $363 million, while "The Jungle Book," which opened in April, grossed $364 million. "Secret Life" earned $368 million.

"Rogue One" opened to a whopping $155 million domestically with stellar reviews. The prequel, starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Riz Ahmed, holds a score of 84 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
