Buffalo Bills fire head coach Rex Ryan, assistant coach Rob Ryan

The Buffalo Bills have moved on from both Ryan brothers.

The team announced this morning that Rex Ryan had been dismissed as head coach and his brother Rob was out as assistant head coach/defense.

Running backs coach Anthony Lynn will serve as the team's interim coach for this weekend's season finale against the New York Jets.

Rex Ryan took over the reins in Buffalo in 2015 after a six-year stint leading the Jets. He led the Bills to an 8-8 record last season and a 7-8 mark through 15 games this fall.

The Bills beat incredible odds and missed the playoffs for the 17th straight season in 2016.

While Rex will likely resurface as a defensive coordinator somewhere, it is unclear where Rob will head next. His previous stints as a DC didn't go well, and he might have to return to being a position coach, depending on which organization hires him.
