The 17 shadiest feuds of 2016: From The Rock's shocking Vin Diesel diss to Amber Rose's legendary clap back
Celebrities definitely weren't afraid to throw some serious shade in 2016.
Whether the shade surprised you -- who knew there was so much drama on the Fast 8 set? -- or whether it made you cringe, let's take a look back at the most epic disses of the year in chronological order.
1. Kanye West Goes Off on Wiz Khalifa
Kanye West went on one of his most memorable rants ever in January, when he went IN on rapper Wiz Khalifa over the course of 17 tweets. West called the "See You Again" rapper's first single "corny as f*ck", claimed no one ever listened to any of Khalifa's albums "all the way through," but also gave him a backhanded compliment on his style.
"I think you dress cool, I wish I was skinny and tall," West tweeted. "Maybe I couldn't be skinny and tall but I'll settle for being the greatest artist of all time as a consolation."
SO. KANYE.
2. Amber Rose Claps Back at Kanye West
Of course, we can also thank West's entertaining rant for giving us the best clap back OF ALL TIME courtesy of West's ex, Amber Rose. Rose took offense when the rapper brought up her and Khalifa's son together in his tweets to Khalifa, and referred to her as a stripper.
"Awww @kanyewest are u mad I'm not around to play in ur a*****e anymore? #FingersInTheBootyA**B**ch☝" she tweeted in response.
MIC. DROPPED.
3. Blac Chyna Shades Kylie Jenner Over Cooking Show
Blac Chyna has never been afraid to speak her mind. In February, Kylie Jenner posted a sneak peek of the first episode of her new cooking show, but it obviously didn't sit well with Chyna, who created her own social media account for "Cooking With Chyna" months prior.
"Bi**h Bye," Chyna Instagrammed. "Follow @cookingwithchyna #InfatuatedWitChy."
In May, Chyna was accused of shading Kylie again, when one of her "Chymojis" looked a lot like Chyna slapping Kylie in face.

4. Demi Lovato Criticizes Taylor Swift for Donating to Kesha, Says Her Squad Doesn't Have Normal Bodies
Demi Lovato had some real issues with Taylor Swift this year. After Swift donated $250,000 to Kesha amid her legal battle against Sony and music producer Dr. Luke in February, Lovato tweeted, "Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed."
"How the f*ck am I making this about myself?" she later defended herself on social media. "At least I'm talking about it. Not everyone has 250k to just give to people. Would love to but I didn't grow up with money and def haven't made as much as her. At least I speak up about sh** that's uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7."
In October, Lovato took shots at Swift again, this time for her famous model-filled squad. When questioned about her past insults to Swift's charitable endeavors, the "Confident" singer didn't back down in an interview with Glamour.
"I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they're going to claim that as part of their brand," she said. "To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don't see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It's kind of this false image of what people should look like ... and it's not real.... It's not realistic."
5. Kim Kardashian Fights Back Hard Against Her Haters
Kim Kardashian proved she wasn't afraid to take on her naysayers following her controversial naked selfie in March, when she went on a scathing rant against celebs who openly criticized her. Her targets included Bette Midler, Chloe Grace Moretz and Piers Morgan.
A sample of Kim's wrath? "Let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is," she tweeted about Moretz. "Your Nylon cover is cute boo."
SAVAGE.
Kim later addressed those who claimed she couldn't possibly be the author of her own comebacks. "Wait I can't believe people thought Kanye or Khloe hacked my Twitter," Kim hilariously tweeted. "I swear I'm funny too!!!"
6. David Bowie's Son Duncan Shades Lady Gaga's Tribute Performance
Looks like not everyone was impressed with Lady Gaga's tribute to David Bowie during the 2016 GRAMMYS in February, specifically Bowie's son, Duncan Jones. Jones posted a cryptic tweet shortly following Gaga's performance, writing, "Overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused. Damn it! What IS that word!?"
Ouch.

7. Nicki Minaj Gives Demi Lovato the Side-Eye at the Met Gala
Lovato's Met Gala appearance in May caused plenty of drama, when she complained that Nicki Minaj didn't tag her in the rapper's own Instagram post with her and Moschino designer Jeremy Scott. Lovato later threw up her own awkward pic of the three of them together, with Minaj giving her one of the most epic side-eyes we've ever seen.
"This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last met gala #cool #sof*ckingawkward #notforme #sweatpants #forensicfiles #whatsgood," Lovato tweeted. "... The shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life."
8. Mariah Carey Still 'Doesn't Know' Jennifer Lopez
Mariah Carey is a true master of shade. After Jennifer Lopez insisted the two have met before in response to a popular video of Carey claiming she doesn't know who the "Love Don't Cost A Thing" singer is, Carey continued to deny Lopez during the her appearance on Watch What Happens Live! in May.
"Apparently, I'm forgetful because I don't remember the fact that it was just like, 'Hi, I'm so and so.' And then move on," Carey argued. "If I have never had a conversation with you and someone asked me about you, I'd be like, 'I don't know him, but he seems cool.'"
"Does she seem cool?" Cohen pressed.
"I don't know her, what am I supposed to say?" Carey responded, still not referring to Lopez by name.
Well played.
9. BET Shades Madonna's Prince Tribute
BET was hilariously vocal about their dislike of Madonna's tribute performance of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" at the Billboard Awards in June. The network threw some major shade with a tweet promoting its own awards show -- that also featured a tribute to the late music legend -- immediately after Madonna's performance. The 15-second promo, which featured the sound of rain and Prince's iconic symbol, concluded with the following message, "Yeah, we saw that. Don't worry. We got you," appearing across the bottom.
Madonna, of course, didn't take the shade lying down. "Wearing the jacket Prince gave me back in the day without permission from BET. lol!" she later Instagrammed with a throwback pic. "I Will Shade You. Hahahhahahahhahah."
10. Demi Lovato Calls Mariah Carey 'Nasty'
Lovato took it upon herself to stick up for both Ariana Grande and Lopez in June, when a social media post called Grande a Carey wannabe.
"You got it the wrong way around honey," Lovato responded. "Mariah is a legend and is so talented but consistently disses people. It's nasty the way she treats Jennifer [Lopez]. Ari did nothing wrong."
"This is why I posted what I did," she continued. "Jen keeps it classy but I'm not afraid to say s**t. The woman is mean for no reason. Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely.
The next month, Lovato admitted her insults probably didn't bother the legendary diva. "I'm sure she's sitting on diamond records not giving a f**k what I have to say," Lovato mused to Billboard. "That's fine. I don't even give a f**k what I have to say. That's why I just say it."
Carey finally responded to Lovato's comments during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live! on Sunday, when she totally shaded the outspoken 23-year-old singer. "I don't know her either, so I wouldn't say anything to her," Carey said when host Andy Cohen brought up Lovato's social media jabs. "She should come up, introduce herself to me, say 'Here's my opinion, what do you think about it?' That's how you handle s**t."
11. Calvin Harris Says Taylor Swift Is Trying to 'Bury Him Like Katy Perry'
Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift split in June, but their breakup didn't stay amicable for long. One month later, Harris shocked fans when he slammed Swift on Twitter after her rep confirmed that she wrote Harris and Rihanna's summer hit, "This Is What You Came For," under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg. "Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though," Harris tweeted. "I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do."
Harris even brought up Swift's much publicized feud with Katy Perry. "I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it," he tweeted. "Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you've earned a great one."
Swift never responded to the outburst, though Harris did praise her in a tweet from November, calling her an "incredible artist."
12. Tara Reid vs. Jenny McCarthy
Talk about an awkward moment.
Tara Reid was a guest on Jenny McCarthy's Sirius XM radio show in July, and things took an uncomfortable turn when McCarthy started asking Reid about her work on the WE tv series Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.
"Babe, I asked you, please let's not talk about this show," Reid told McCarthy, clearly annoyed. "We're all here about Sharknado."
But McCarthy didn't stop there. She then began to ask Reid about her past experiences with plastic surgery, after which Reid walked out.
"I'm so excited about Sharknado, and I hope you stay married, and I hope your knees get a little wobblier than they already are," McCarthy told Reid as she exited.
But Reid couldn't help but get one more dig in. "I hope your tits get even nicer, because they're amazing," she shot back. "The same guy who did mine, right? I'll always use your advice. You're the best. Bye."
13. The Rock Calls Out His 'Fast 8' Co-Stars
Fast and Furious fans were taken by surprise when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson went off on his male co-stars in an Instagram rant in August. "Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't," the former professional wrestler wrote. "The ones that don't are too chicken s**t to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es."
"When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling -- you're right," he added.
Shortly after his initial outburst, reports surfaced that Johnson's issues were with Vin Diesel, and that the two had been butting heads throughout the production.
However, it appears to be all good now.
"I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it," Johnson later Instagrammed. "And like any family, we get better from it."
14. Kid Cudi Shades Kanye West and Drake, They Fire Back
A new rap feud was born in September, when rapper Kid Cudi took shots at his former mentor, Kanye West, and Drake, by insinuating that the two don't write their own songs. "Everyone thinks they're soooo great. Talkin top 5 and be having 30 people write songs for them," Cudi tweeted. "My tweets apply to who they apply. Ye, Drake, whoever. These n***as dont give a fuck about me. And they ain't f**kin with me."
Not surprisingly, West wasn't having it. "Kid Cudi, don't ever mention 'Ye name!," West said in response during a passionate rant at his Saint Pablo concert stop in Tampa, Florida. "I birthed you! We all dealing with that emo sh*t all the time .... Don't ever mention 'Ye name."
As for Drake, he released his track "Two Birds, One Stone" in October, in which he calls Cudi's depression a "phase" -- to which Cudi responded with some very NSFW language.
While West and Cudi have since made up, we doubt Cudi and Drake will be hanging together anytime soon.
15. Karl Lagerfeld Shades Kim Kardashian Over Her Paris Robbery
Although Karl Lagerfeld has been friendly with the Kardashian family for years, he threw shots at Kim in October after her robbery during Paris Fashion Week.
"You cannot display your wealth then be surprised that some people want to share it," the Chanel creative director told the Associated Press, criticizing her social media habits. "I don't understand why she was in a hotel with no security. If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on [social media], you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room."

16. Rihanna vs. Her Exes
Rihanna threw some serious shade at her ex-boyfriends in October, which include Drake, Chris Brown, and baseball pro Matt Kemp.
"None of my exs [sic] are married or in happy relationships so it's safe to say that I wasn't da problem lol," the post read. Rihanna captioned the pic with a trophy emoji.

17. Nick Cannon Pokes Fun at Mariah Carey's Reported New Boyfriend, Bryan Tanaka
Nick Cannon hilariously shaded Carey's reported new boyfriend, dancer Bryan Tanaka, after paparazzi pictures surfaced of Tanaka carrying her on the beach.
The America's Got Talent host went to Instagram with a very curiously timed #TBT, featuring himself carrying his ex-wife on the beach, with the pointed caption, "#TBT This is how you do it! LOL #IkeTurnUp #WePetty."
Petty, indeed!
