Sky-high ice rink opens in Moscow

MOSCOW, Dec 16 (Reuters) - An ice rink billed as the highest in Europe has opened for business atop a 354-meter (1,160 feet) building in downtown Moscow, providing skaters with panoramic views of the Russian capital.

The rink, surrounded with bars and restaurants, cost 15 million roubles ($243,000) to build, according to BMW Group Russia, which opened it on Thursday.

"It's located at such a height that one can see the whole of Moscow," said Maria, one of the first skaters to try out the ice.

However, the views from the OKO Tower in Moscow's commercial district don't come cheap, with a ticket to skate costing 3,000 roubles ($49).
