Celebrities who died in 2016: David Bowie, Prince, Gwen Ifill and more stars we lost

2016 was a heartbreaker of a year when it came to the stars that we lost along the way. From David Bowie and Prince to Alan Rickman and Gwen Ifill, big names of all industries left us over the past twelve months that left us gutted.

While some of the celebrities that passed away this year were older, there were a few notable stars that died at a tragically young age: Anton Yelchin, of "Star Wars," died in a freak accident at the age of 27 in June, and country singer Joey Feek lost her long battle with cancer at the age of 40 in March.

More recently, Alan Thicke died suddenly at the age of 69 following a heart attack earlier this month, and "Brady Bunch" matriarch Florence Henderson unexpectedly passed away at the end of November at the age of 82 just weeks after stopping by "Dancing With the Stars."
