The "Amityville Horror" house has officially been sold

Back in June, the infamous "Amityville Horror" house on Long Island went up for sale with a whopping price tag of $850,000.

That seems a little steep considering the home was the site of a tragic mass murder in 1974, when 23-year-old Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot his parents and four siblings to death in their beds, claiming the house made him do it ... but we digress.

Miraculously, the 1927 Dutch Colonial has found a fearless new owner.

According to Newsday, the house went into contract this week -- however, details about the owner-to-be remain to be disclosed.

"We don't discuss the terms of a sale until it's closed," listing agent Jerry O'Neill of Coldwell Banker Harbor Light told Newsday.

Until the deal is officially closed, we can only pray for the future residents of the 5,000-square-foot, five-bedroom, 3 1⁄2-bathroom river-front home -- which comes with the infamous boathouse.

Whoever they are ... we hope they have a penchant for dealing with the paranormal.
