Joni Mitchell steps out for her birthday

Joni Mitchell has made another public appearance as she continues to recover from a brain aneurysm.

The legendary Canadian singer and songwriter smiled as she stepped out with friends to celebrate her 73rd birthday last week. Mitchell wore red for her special day. The moment was captured on camera and shared from the Hall of Famer's Twitter account on Wednesday (Nov. 16).

Mitchell has been on a long road to recovery since March 31, 2015, when she was found unconscious in her L.A. home.

Her condition was listed as life-threatening, though in late June of that year, Mitchell's attorney Rebecca J. Thyne said the artist "has physical therapy each day and is expected to make a full recovery." She has kept a low profile since but was snapped out with friends at the Catalina Bar and Grill in late August.
