SC exit polls asks if blacks are 'too demanding' over equal rights

A South Carolina exit poll has come under fire after asking if "blacks are getting too demanding in their push for equal rights."

Political science professor David Woodard insisted that the poll was meant to measure whether or not race had a bearing on voting patterns, which is why questions were included like whether blacks were hard enough workers.

"It was designed to take advantage of a political moment of Senator Tim Scott's election as the first African-American from a southern state since reconstruction," Woodard explained. "It was not designed to be provocative."

He added that he was surprised by the reaction because the questions had been included in other polls for decades.
