Trump won't be getting endorsement from son-in-law's newspaper

Updated

The New York Observer, a website and newspaper owned by Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, has confirmed that the publication will not be endorsing the GOP candidate, reports the Huffington Post.

This time around, it will not be backing any person running for president, according to Ken Kurson, the media outlet's editor-in-chief.

Notably, the paper did support Trump in the primary, making it one of the few publications to do so.

While the New York Observer owned by Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump, has chosen to take the path of silence, other publications have broken long-standing traditions of endorsing Republicans and voiced support for Hillary Clinton.

In backing her, the Arizona Republic wrote, "...we have never endorsed a Democrat over a Republican for president. Never...This year is different...The 2016 Republican candidate is not conservative and he is not qualified."

The San Diego Union-Tribune called Clinton "the safest candidate" and said of Trump, "Upon inauguration...he would be in charge of the executive branch of a global superpower and possess enormous authority, operating with no coherent worldview besides 'I alone can fix it.'"
