President Obama invites Cubs to the White House after World Series win

Updated

Since President Obama took over office in 2008, he has had nearly every major sports championship team visit the White House. Most recently, this included the Cleveland Cavaliers after their 2016 NBA Finals victory over the Golden State Warriors.

The World Series champions are included in this too. After Wednesday night, the latest one may be visiting the White House soon.

Following the Chicago Cubs winning Game 7 of the World Series, President Obama, a known White Sox fan, congratulated and invited the champions to the White House.

One would think the Cubs will likely answer the call with a "yes." After going 108 years without a title, they will look to celebrate this as much as possible, so expect to see them show up at the White House before Obama's time in office ends.

The White House visit would be one of many ways that the Cubs will celebrate their World Series win. There will be a parade soon, probably parties that won't be public and sheer happiness among the players throughout the offseason, which began with the huge celebration in the middle of the field and locker room. It's an all-time high for an organization that has been lovable losers.

The Cubs are World Series champions, which had once seemed impossible. They broke a curse that had remained with them for over a century, and finally can remove this label from their franchise.
