Here's what happened to stocks the last time the Cubs and Indians won the World Series
With a 9 to 3 victory on Tuesday, the Chicago Cubs forced a World Series Game 7 on Wednesday night and are on the precipice of their first World Series since before the modern zipper was invented.
If you're from Chicago or Cleveland, you've probably already had a rooting interest. If you're just tuning in or unsure of who to root for, there are a myriad of ways to pick a team.
Courtesy of the folks at Bespoke Investment Group, we took a look at how the stock market preformed after each of the two teams previous World Series wins (it's been a long time for both teams). Maybe the results will sway your rooting interest.
Now obviously, these should be taken with a grain of salt considering the small sample size, completely different macroeconomic settings, and — let's be honest — dubious at best correlation.
For the fun of it, however, it appears that the Cubs would be better for stocks than the Indians.
After the Cubs last win in 1908, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 3.4% in the following 3 months. (Charts also provided by Bespoke)

And after Cleveland's last win in 1948, the index sunk by 1.7% in the next 3 months.

So if you're an investor it looks like you should be rooting for the Cubbies.
