6 McDonald's items you probably forgot existed

You pretty much know the McDonald's menu by heart; burgers, nuggets and, everyone's favorite, french fries. However, sometimes McDonald's likes to experiment and the results can get pretty crazy.

Here are a few McDonald's items from the past that you may have forgotten about.

Burger King is making waves with their grill dogs, but McDonald's has tried that in the past.

They also tried to take over the universe when they put together their pizza item.

Onion rings are a pretty popular item in many places, but when Mickey-D's put them into nugget form that was just too much and customers weren't really into it.

Still, it wasn't as bad as when McDonald's introduced their mighty wings, an endeavor so bad the company took a huge loss and rumor has it they were left with a lot of unused chicken wings.

The McSalad Shakers were a crafty invention, it's surprising to see didn't last. They perfectly solved for that annoying salad dressing distribution issue. Just shake it up and you've got dressing everywhere.

Finally, there was the chopped beefsteak sandwich which, judging by the not altogether appetizing picture, wasn't too much of a crowd pleaser.

Perhaps McDonald's is better off sticking to what it does best, plain ol' American burgers and fries.
