Justin Timberlake may have broken the law by voting

Updated

On Monday, famed singer Justin Timberlake shared a selfie on Instagram about flying from LA to Memphis in order to vote. The photo showed him casting his ballot (UPDATE: The photo has since been deleted):

Timberlake took the trip because even though he lives in Los Angeles, he's registered in his native state of Tennessee.

Many of his fans were shocked and delighted to see him, including local government candidate Suzanne Jones:

While he initially received praise for voting early and encouraging others to speak their voice in the election, it soon became apparent that he may have broken the law. Last year, Gov. Bill Haslam signed a bill banning photos and videos in voting booths. Phones may be used for informational purposes, but not for documenting the voting process.

Whether legal action will be taken against Timberlake is yet undetermined.
