Land the gig: Interview prep

Here's a familiar scenario -- You have a job interview in an exactly 24 hours. What exact steps do you take to prepare?

You should have already done your homework when you applied for the job, so hopefully you know the job description inside and out. But it's always a good idea to learn as much about the company as you can. If they sell a specific product, make sure you familarize yourself with it -- perhaps actually use it -- before you go in.

Next, you should practice presenting yourself and rehearse answers to anticipated questions. Even if you have a loose idea of what you'll say, having it laid out in your head will help ensure you don't fumble when the big moment arrives.

After a good night's sleep (get to bed early!) set your alarm early, so you have plenty of time to get ready. You'll also want to get to the interview 15 minutes early.

Definitely don't forget to pack several copies of your resume, too, and pick your outfit the night before, so you're not frazzled on the big day ... But just don't wear orange.
