President Obama declares mission to Mars by the 2030s

Good news for space lovers, President Obama wants to send you to Mars.

In an op-ed published on CNN, he details his interest in space exploration and says his clear goal is to send humans to Mars by the 2030s and return them safely.

The op-ed says the ultimate ambition of sending people to Mars is to one day remain there for an extended time.

As for the next steps, Obama he's working with commercial partners to build and sustain astronauts on long-term missions in space.

To do this, he claims, "Getting to Mars will require continued cooperation between government and private innovators, and we're already well on our way."

The president says visiting and staying on Mars will make life better on Earth.
