Hurricane Matthew is expected to make landfall or near landfall on Florida's east coast Thursday night.

The deadly category 4 hurricane has already left much of the Caribbean nations in shambles. Haiti has reported more than 100 people have been killed by the storm's deadly impact.

American officials are urging coastal residents in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina to evacuate and seek shelter inland. The storm is anticipated to approach land between West Palm Beach and Cape Canaveral.

"Do not surf. Do not go on the beach. This will kill you," Florida Governor Rick Scott said Thursday morning. "There is no reason not to leave."
