Teachers arrested for attempting to draw a dinosaur in concrete

Updated

Jennifer Rist and Abigail Howard, two teachers in Windsor, Vermont, work for a school for kids with special needs.

One day, wet concrete was poured near their school.

They were warned to stay away from it so that it could set -- but they got a little mischievous.

The drying cement was just too tempting, so they tried to draw in it.

Fortunately, they are not very good criminals.

They defied the number one rule of getting away with something you should not do -- by writing their initials in the cement (and drawing what looks like a rat.)

Instead of getting detention like your classic school misbehavior would earn, they were arrested for unlawful mischief and caused $1,500 in damage.

"In retrospect, it was pretty stupid," Howard said.

She clarified to WCAZ that the "rat" was supposed to be a dinosaur -- and she just wanted to draw something that would entertain her students on walks.

Unfortunately, her good intentions were misconstrued as vandalism.
