New post-debate CNN/ORC poll shows Clinton leading by 5 points

Updated

On Monday, CNN/ORC International published the results of its first poll conducted since the late September presidential debate, and the numbers show that Hillary Clinton now leads by 5 points.

47% of likely voters voiced support for her, while 42% indicated they are backing Trump.

Male voters, a one-time stronghold for Trump, have switched over to her side in notable numbers.

While among that group she once lagged behind Trump by 22 points, she now trails by only 5.

The bulk of the questionnaires had been completed prior to the New York Times'Saturday report which revealed that due to the 1995 declaration of $916 million in losses, Donald Trump could have avoided paying income tax for up to 18 years.

Though Trump's supporters have called the move a testament to the candidate's business genius, the poll participants indicated a different view on paying taxes.

Nearly 90% of respondents said they feel it is a civic responsibility.
