Kim Kardashian's robbery was her own fault, Karl Lagerfeld suggests

Updated

Kim Kardashian isn't getting any sympathy from Karl Lagerfeld, after being robbed at gunpoint in Paris on Sunday night.

Fashion designer Lagerfeld basically blamed Kardashian for the robbery in a video published by the Telegraph on Tuesday.

The way Lagerfeld sees it, the robbery was foreseeable, and Kardashian should have stayed in a secure hotel, especially given her penchant for flaunting her riches online.

"I don't understand why she was in a hotel with no security," Lagerfeld said. "If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the Net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near your room. You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you."

The reality TV star was reportedly tied up by armed robbers, locked in a bathroom and had more than $10 million worth of jewelry stolen on Sunday night, according to the Associated Press.

Kardashian was in Paris, staying at a private residence when the burglary took place. The culprits are still at large. A spokesperson said the reality TV star is "badly shaken but physically unharmed."
