Spirit Halloween has revealed in a recent press release that "2016 is all about the anti-heroes."

It goes on to say that "Harley Quinn, the Joker and Deadpool all combine the daring and mischievous traits of a villain with the heart of a hero."

In fact, Harley Quinn from the summer blockbuster 'Suicide Squad' is expected to be one of the top costumes, with her signature colorful pigtails, bold makeup, and fishnet stockings.

For a different female action hero look, the gun-toting women of Ghostbusters appear to be a popular option, either as an ensemble or solo look.

Social media will also likely have a strong influence, with Snapchat filters, twinning emojis, and Instagram-loving celebrities expected to make an appearance this Halloween.
