Rihanna designs what Marie Antoinette would wear to the gym

What's the 2016 version of "Let them eat cake"? The answer: "Let them go to the gym!" Or at least that's what Rihanna is envisioning for Fenty x Puma, the second season of which she staged in a traditional French salon-style show today in Paris's Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild. According to the singer/designer, she found inspiration in fantasizing about what the infamous French queen would throw on to work out, or whatever. The exact aesthetic, straight from the bad gal's mouth: "If Marie Antoinette was going to the gym and needed something to wear."

Check out some of the looks below:

The collection is certainly fit for royalty, featuring silk gym shorts, hoodies cinched with bedazzled corsets, bow-adorned nylon windbreaker parkas, and creeper-esque boots (adding those to the shopping list now). Riri even managed to bend gender norms, sending a classically femme négligée through the salon rooms on a male model. Under a blasting orchestral symphony, the pastel-hued collection was definitely sweet—but the streetwear, athletic elements completed the picture. Though the sisters Hadid did not walk the show, Rih kept the modern royal bloodlines represented with their younger brother Anwar in the mix, along with Taylor Hill, Imaan Hammam, and Lexi Boling.

Is this a step forward for Rihanna the designer? Yaasss. Is this a step forward in the athleisure/gymwear space? We direct you to our girl Queen Marie on that one.
