A bag of Jose Fernandez autographed baseballs washed ashore in Miami

A Miami beachgoer made an unnerving discovery when he found a bag full of four autographed baseballs on the shore on Monday.

According to WSVN TV, the autographs were those of Jose Fernandez.

The 24-year-old Miami Marlins pitcher died in a boating accident early Sunday morning and the bag was found on Miami Beach roughly a mile from where he and two friends crashed.

Fernandez, 24, Emilio Macias, 27, and Eduardo Rivero, 25, all died in the accident.

While Miami officials are still investigating what led to the fatal accident, the sports world is still processing the tragic loss of the three men.

The Marlins honored Fernandez in an unbelievable tribute on Monday night, the team's first game after the loss of their star pitcher. Every member of the team wore Fernandez's No. 16 jersey.
