Hundreds of pigeons found inside Long Island home caked with 2 feet of bird poop
Today in UGHHHH -- 350 free-flying pigeons were rescued on Thursday from a Merrick, N.Y., home home, the doors of which could barely open because of the sheer amount of bird droppings layered on the floor, WPIX-TV reported.
"Every time we go somewhere, we think we've seen it all. This is horrendous," said Gary Rogers, spokesman for the Nassau County SPCA. "You can't even walk around the house. You can't open the doors because of all the pilings of bird droppings."
Though that may sound like a scene ripped straight out of a horror movie, we can assure you it's not -- when measured, it was revealed that more than two feet of bird droppings and seeds actually covered the floors.
Oddly enough, the conditions surrounding the case remain mysterious -- it is currently unclear what even prompted officials to respond to the home (thought we're assuming it was the smell.)
The man who lived at the home was reportedly carried away in a stretcher, his body and head covered in sheets with an oxygen mask covering his mouth, but the reason he was brought to the hospital is also unknown.
Either way, animal control officials now have the delightful task of running around the poop-caked home to capture each and every rat with wings pigeon.
Rodgers said they'll likely "be there for a couple hours."
