The Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is set to hold a news conference Friday afternoon on North Korea's nuclear test.

The U.S. Geological Curvey detected seismic activity around 9:30 a.m. Friday Seoul time (8:30 p.m. Thursday EDT) roughly 12 miles from Sungjibaegam, North Korea.

A North Korean news anchor confirmed the test, making it the fifth carried out by Kim Jong Un's regime and the second nuclear test in 8 months.
