Lady Gaga unveils 'Perfect Illusion' banger: Listen

Gaga has returned!

Lady Gaga released her new single, the rockin' "Perfect Illusion," on Thursday night to great fanfare from Little Monsters everywhere.

"I don't need eyes to see/ I felt you touchin' me/ High like amphetamine/ Maybe you're just a dream," she sings on the song. We can't help but wonder if it's about her split with Taylor Kinney, with lyrics like "It wasn't love/ It was a perfect illusion."

At the iHeartRadio Music Summit last month, Gaga explained the inspiration behind the track. She said, "The song is about modern ecstasy... We found our sweet, simple, ragey way of saying it... I get this sick adrenaline rush every time I hear it."

"Perfect Illusion" was produced by Gaga with Mark Ronson, Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker and Blood Pop, who's known for his work with Justin Bieber and Grimes, among others. It is the Mother Monster's first solo release in almost three years, since 2013's Artpop album, and anticipation for the track has been high, helping it top the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart last month, weeks before its arrival.
